The Blank Canvas

When we come into this world, we come with a blank canvas in our hearts waiting to be filled with all kinds of colours as we grow up. When we are little, and we don't really know what real monsters are, we are just awestruck by the stories and the tales that are being told to us at bedtime, so that we can paint our own parallel canvas in our dreams.
We are not only fascinated by the prince who saves the princess, but also by the dragons and the monsters who try to take over the world. We get so engrossed into the world of fantasy, that when reality knocks on our doors, we don't know how to react and what to do, and that's when teenage happens. We are so delusioned by the tales of fairies and Neverland where no one grows old, that when we step out into the real world, ready to get our canvases painted, we are not only confused, but hurt, as to not seeing the world for what we imagined it would be.
We come to know that all those tales of heroism, peace and humanity are meant to be painted and stored only in our dreams, cause there is also a dark side to this canvas.
But you know, amidst all these negative, grey, dark and violent colours, there is always this one colour on our canvas that keeps telling us, that our dreamland, can still exist.
It's hard to find love into this world full of hatred and division, but there is one colour that never fades from our canvas, rather it gets stronger and brighter each day. Infact, when we came into this world, ready to experience all those different shades of colours, there was this one colour that always stood out. It made us realise and made us feel what is the value and meaning of 'love' in this world.
Also, you didn't need to hear any fantasy story of heroism and victory to imagine how this feeling would be, it was right there by your side, since you came into this world, never letting it's shine fade.
A child, no matter how small he is and how blank his canvas is, is born with this colour, because, when his mom holds him in her arms, for the very first time, looks into his tiny, sparkly eyes filled with wonder and innocence, and tells him that "I'll always love you." He knows, at that very moment, that his canvas has been painted with the most beautiful colour which will not fade, but only grow.
So, sometimes, the negative colours may overpower the painting in your head, and make you believe that happiness is just a delusion, go back to that moment, look into the eyes of your mother, take her hand in yours, and tell her that you love her. I am sure, the brightness of the colour that will reflect from her teary eyes will outwin all those negative colours and make your canvas colourful, till your very last breath!
